Our Story ~ 24 Years Young And Growing

The Garden Club of Coral Springs was formed in October 1999 by a handful of home gardeners who had learned through trial and error how to grow and maintain beautiful landscapes and gardens. We wanted to share our experiences and knowledge with others. A great percentage of Floridians are from northern and western areas of our vast country and find that nearly everything they knew about gardening did not apply to South Florida. The Garden Club of Coral Springs is far, far, far more than just a flower club. It’s hoped that this Web site allows you a glimpse at just how complex this young, 24 year-old nonprofit organization is, as well as how attuned the organization volunteer leadership is to our vision and mission.

  • Protecting and conserving natural resources
  • Advancing the art of gardening, horticulture and floral design
  • Promoting civic and roadside beautification
  • Develop a strong youth program in our community
  • Encourage the love of gardening among our piers and future gardeners

With a primary focus on member’s education and enjoyment and our community beautification, the GCCS’s aspirations are, truly, our possibilities. We look forward to you joining us on this most pleasurable and rewarding of voyages.

Today’s Garden Club is on the Cutting Edge for Action. Coral Springs lies at the Gateway to the Everglades. We are proud to have been an effective part, working with the Coral Springs Neighborhood Environmental Committee, headed by Casey Lee, The Coral Springs Parks and Recreation Department, our schools and businesses and over 300 private residences who created Wildlife Habitats for our feathered, furry and small wildlife friends, our City has been declared a “Community Wildlife Habitat” by The National Wildlife Federation!

Each year we present  $1000 Scholarships to qualified High School graduates and College sophomores majoring in horticulture, environmental science, landscape architecture, marine biology or a related science.

Our Yard of The Month Beautification Project goes from October to May.  Please help us acknowledge the beautiful yards and gardens in our communities of Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Margate and Tamarac.   We are fortunate to be able to garden year-round due to our semi-tropical climate.

If you, or someone you know, would like to be nominated for our YARD OF THE MONTH AWARD email us at gardenclubs2020@yahoo.com with name, address, and picture of property to be nominated.
